2013 Book publication. Architecture In Formation,On The Nature of Information in Digital Architecture Edited by Pablo Lorenzo-Eiroa and Aaron Sprecher, Routledge, New York 2013.Graphic Design by Pastille Rose, Tamzyn Berman.   http://www.routledge.com/books/details/9780415534901/

Architecture in Formation is the first digital architecture manual that bridges multiple relationships between theory and practice, proposing a vital resource to structure the upcoming second digital revolution. Sixteen essays from practitioners, historians and theorists look at how information processing informs and is informed by architecture. Twenty-nine experimental projects propose radical means to inform the new upcoming digital architecture.

“We grew accustomed to live together with machines, which provide us endless access to information. Our computational companions, now in our pockets, have had also a profound impact on how we foresee future scenarios of transformation and change. Now is the moment that we reconsider critically the emergence of new paradigms and protocols that computation has determined within architecture, and this collection of essays establishes a potent cornerstone of a much needed history of that recent past.”

Fabrizio Gallanti, Associate Director, Canadian Centre for Architecture.

2013 Pablo Lorenzo-Eiroa computation research is on display at The Cooper Union, The Colonnade Gallery at the gorund floor level at 7 East 7th Street. According to some scientists we may have surpassed the point of irreparable damage to our planet. At this point, several scientists confirm that ecological balance may only be achieved by artificial means. Hurricane Sandy and other recurring storms have been activating debates on ecology, discussing the role of artificial interventions in the cities of the north east, bringing issues that can be associated with New Orleans and the devastating force of Hurricane Katrina, studied in this computer seminar back in 2006.

During the academic year 2012/13 Princeton SoA will stage a series of public conversations around emerging alternative practices in architecture. At a moment when the profession is facing new challenges and asking important questions on a global scale, we would like to capitalize on the experience of our recent alumni to explore a broad range of contemporary practices that spin from, or gravitate around architecture, seeking alternatives to the established norms of the field. To capitalize on Princeton's commitment to experimental work at the edge of the discipline, we intend to feature these practices as a sample of ways to engage with various areas of interest and opportunity that confront architects today, and outline propositions for alternative practices for the future. A video of the lecture will be posted soon http://soa.princeton.edu/news.html
